Baggage Policy
Our goal at Airowings is to make sure that your trip goes as smoothly and without any problems as possible. Please read through our baggage policy before your flight to make sure you follow it and avoid any problems.
* Note: Each airline has its own rules about checked bags, and the fees are based on the airline you choose.
1. Carry-On Baggage
Each traveler is allowed one carry-on bag and one personal item (the carry-on bag provision depends on the class of service and the airline you selected) free of charge. The following guidelines apply:
-
Carry-On Bag Size: Maximum dimensions: 22" x 14" x 9", including wheels and handles.
-
Weight Limit: Typically, the carry-on bag should not exceed 15 lbs (7 kg). Please check with your airline, as weight limits may vary.
-
Personal Item: Personal items should fit under the seat. Common examples include purses, small backpacks, or a laptop bag.
Items to Avoid in Carry-On Bags:
-
Sharp objects (e.g., knives, scissors, etc.)
-
Liquids exceeding 3.4 oz (100 ml) per container (all liquids must fit within a 1-quart ziplock bag)
-
Hazardous materials (e.g., flammable liquids, explosives)
For a complete list of prohibited items, please check your selected airline’s official website or Airowings regulations, as Airowings is responsible for those listed provisions.
2. Checked Baggage
Larger things can be stored in the cargo hold of an airplane with checked luggage. When it comes to checked bags, the following rules apply:
Many airlines let each person check one to two bags, but it depends on the class of your ticket and where you're going. There may be extra fees for extra bags.
Size Limit: The total length, width, and height of each checked bag should not be more than 62 inches (158 cm).
Weight Limit: Each checked bag can have no more than 50 pounds (23 kg) of weight. If there is too much weight, there may be extra fees.
Extra Fees: Extra baggage or things that are too heavy may cost extra, and the fees depend on the airline and the location. Before you book, please check with your flight about their baggage rules.
3. Special Baggage
Certain items require special handling and may be subject to additional charges or restrictions. These include:
-
Sports gear: Bicycles, skis, and golf clubs are common examples of items that can be brought as extra luggage. They may, however, have to pay extra and be limited in size.
-
Instruments for music: Depending on their size, musical instruments can be brought on board as checked luggage. Larger instruments might need extra space or approval ahead of time.
-
Infant Baggage: If you're traveling with an infant, you may be allowed to carry additional items like a stroller, car seat, or diaper bag without extra charges. However, this is subject to airline-specific policies.
Please consult our customer support for specific requirements regarding special baggage.
4. Excess Baggage
Excess baggage fees apply when the number of items, weight, or size exceeds the limits specified in your fare. These fees vary by airline and destination. It’s always advisable to check the airline's baggage policy before your flight to avoid surprises.
Typical Excess Baggage Charges:
-
Additional Baggage: Fees for extra bags can range from $30 to $100 USD per bag, depending on the airline and destination.
-
Overweight Baggage: If a checked bag exceeds the weight limit, additional fees will apply, typically starting around $50 USD.
-
Oversized Baggage: Bags exceeding size restrictions may incur significant fees, typically starting at $100 USD.
5. Baggage Loss
While every effort is made to ensure the safe transport of your baggage, occasionally issues can arise. If your baggage is lost, delayed, or damaged:
-
Lost Baggage: You must report any missing baggage to the airline's baggage service office within 4 hours of your arrival at your destination.
-
Damaged Baggage: If your baggage is damaged, report it immediately to the airline's baggage service desk before leaving the airport.
-
Compensation: Airlines typically offer compensation for lost or damaged baggage, subject to their policies and limits. You may also be entitled to reimbursement for essential items purchased in the event of delayed baggage.
6. Baggage Restrictions by Destination
Keep in mind that baggage allowances may vary depending on the airline, route, and country-specific regulations. Always verify baggage allowances with the airline prior to travel, especially for international flights.
7. Tips for Efficient Packing:
-
Weigh Your Bags: Avoid extra charges by weighing your bags before arriving at the airport.
-
Use Compression Bags: These can help reduce the size of your clothing, allowing you to pack more efficiently.
-
Keep Essentials in Your Carry-On: Always pack important documents (passports, tickets, medications, etc.) and a change of clothes in your carry-on in case your checked baggage is delayed.
-
Label Your Baggage: Always include a label with your name and contact information in case your baggage is misplaced.
For a smooth travel experience, always familiarize yourself with the baggage policy of the airline you are flying with, and be mindful of weight, size, and prohibited items. If you have any questions or need assistance with your baggage, don’t hesitate to reach out to our customer service team.
